If you're looking to secure a set of drawers or horizontal hinged cupboard doors with a simple but effective lock, then this is probably one of the easiest ways to do so. This lock is designed to shoot a bolt UP into the top frame.
All you would do is drill yourself an 18mm hole in the door or drawer (if you don't already have one), that gives a 26mm backset (this is the measurement from the top edge of the drawer or door to the centre of the hole, so approximately 17mm from the top edge of the door to the start of the 18mm hole).
That's really all the drilling or modification that is required - everything else is fairly superficial as the lock itsself is then mounted on the back of the door, and optionally you can mount a lip-type keep plate on the inside of the 'ceiling' of the drawer / cupboard, to allow the lock to secure against - these are shown in the related products section further down on the page.
The absolute maximum thickness the door can be is around 22mm. If your door is thinner than this, then you can use the spacer plates (or 'packers') which you will also find in the related products section.

Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now we're putting these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer in hopefully a little bit more detail, or in the flesh, so to speak. So today I want to show you a cabinet lock that we have on our website. They are handed, guys. This is the actual right-handed version, but we also do a left-handed version as well, and I've got a few of the accessories as well that you can have an optional purchase depending on how you want to actually set this up on your particular type of application.
So they come as standard with two keys. They're available either key-to-differ so there are unique keys for every one, or key-to-like groups, so you may have a couple of cabinets that you want to be able to secure, so you can actually lock it, take the key out in the unlock position as well as the lock position there as you can see. You can also get these optional packers. This allows you then to build out the lock, depending on if the door that you're planning on fitting this on is slightly thinner, then you can use these packers here, therefore then you don't have too much of the projection here sticking out of the other side of the door.
You then have an option for a rosette as well. That would sit over the top there like that and finish the hole off so it looks incredibly tidy. And then there's also a range of keeps as well that we have on our website. This is the lipped keep here, and you can actually screw this to the unit there, for it would hold that in to there like that to keep the cabinet into the locked position.
So what I'll do very, very quickly now is I'll just get you some sort of measurements, just to give you some sort of overall idea in regards to its sizes, etc. So the actual projection there of the actual lock cylinder there is around about 22mm overall projection. The actual backset from the centre of the keyhole to the leading edge of the actual lock itself, I'm getting around about the 25mm, maybe 26mm there.
The actual bolt projection itself is around about 8mm, and the bolt height there is, I'm getting in that around about the 19, maybe 20mm. The actual thickness of that bolt also is around about 4mm, and another interesting note to take into consideration as well is the actual distance that the bolt sits away from the face there. And I'm getting that in around about the 3mm. So that's the amount of space before the bolt starts to project out.
Now, the actual keep itself, this particular keep here as you can see, it's got some screw hole fixings. Bear in mind that these don't come with fixings. You need to consider your own fixings there. And the size of that plate there is 25mm by 40mm. And the actual projection of the actual keep itself there is, give or take, 10mm there. So that gives you some sort of idea in respect to that.
And of course you've got these packers then that will allow you the size or the thickness of the actual packer itself is about 2.3mm. The actual size of the diameter of the hole that you need to cut is just slightly under 18.79. So I kind of guess if you're looking at drilling an 18mm hole, then that's going to actually push into there nice and tidy with a nice, snug fit.
So there you go, guys. Let me just give you a quick measurement on the backplate here, which is quite important for you. You're looking there around about 39mm, probably square. Yes, this is exactly square. And the fixing centres there as well, just for your information is around about 31mm there, and I kind of guess it's the same again on this side. Yeah, it's 31mm.
So there you go. It gives you the opportunity to see the product in the flesh and see whether or not it actually would suit your particular application. But listen. If you need a bit more information on this or any of the products that we have, pop us over an email, use the live chat that we have or simply give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you, and more importantly, we'd love to see you as one of our customers. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the team, thanks for taking the time to tune in, and hope to catch up with you real soon. Take care now. Bye-bye.
