Weatherboards or 'Rain Deflectors' are commonly found on front-doors and similar external door scenarios, with the sole purpose of keeping rain from leaking in underneath the door. They are designed in such a way that they encourage water to run away from the door by deflecting it outwards rather than letting it hit the floor from a vertical motion.
