This corded garage door holder is designed for holding open large old-style wooden garage doors, where ground-bolts and wall hooks are perhaps not possible due to unlevel ground outside, or no wall for the door to meet allowing for a door hook.

The idea of this is, as the door reaches it's fully open position (610mm), the piece mounted to the door will 'drop' into a crank, preventing the door from returning from that position. When the chord is pulled however, this will lift it up out of the crank and allow the door to return freely.

This is suitable for narrow lintel applications, but there is also one for wide lintel applications here: Wide Lintel Garage Door Hold-Open

The holder itsself is a thick powder coated solid steel construct.

Fixing screws, bolts and fitting instructions are included.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel and I'm the Head of the Tech Team here at LocksOnline. Many thanks for taking the time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. Now we've put a few short videos together to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer and perhaps a little bit more detail than what the descriptive text or an image may give you.
And today I'm going to talk to you about a stainless design for a big old-fashioned of garage door, you know the big doors that you may have got where they're all hinged doors that open outwards. And what you want to do is when they actually in the opened-out position, then you want to be able to keep them in that hold-out position and therefore then do whatever you want to do in the garage, and then be able to close it. Sometimes, to be able to get some way of holding out that garage door out can be difficult. You might not be able to get a bolt into the ground or you might not be able to get a hook on the back, etc. Maybe this is the type of mechanism that you may be looking at.
So this, at this moment in time, is in the open state. So if you can imagine this on my hand, you have a few images which I'll show you in a minute, and this is on the door - this would now in effect be in the open position. So to be able to close this door, it has a string attached to it. So if I can now - I'll try to do the best that I possibly can - is, if we can zoom in here for instance, I'll try and explain this a little bit better.
Now, all the weight will be sitting on this here and I can't hold them both because there's too much weight on it but basically the idea is that in underneath here, if I put that round you like that, you'll see that there is a projection there that's stopping this going back there against that metal. Can you see that there? So the idea is what we have to do is lift that up and allow that then to slide.
And the way to be able to lift that up is by pulling on that drawstring there and that would then push that up against the weight of that. It's hard to try and explain. It's easier when it's actually fitted on to the door. But the idea would be then by me being able to lift that up, it would then allow me to close the door back into the closed position. So this is what it's designed to do. It's designed to open up and keep a door in the open position, whilst you don't have any other way to keep it in that position. So this would be fitted at the head of the actual door and onto the frame.
Now this one here is designed, where you can screw this into the lintel above the door and I've got a few images as well to quickly show you how that actually works. So this is the actual instructions - sorry, I do apologise. It actually comes with the actual unit. So, as you can see there now, you can see that you need to be able to lift that up in which to be able to close the door. And a similar image there. I don't know if you can zoom in and just have a quick look at that. Pause the video if you want to take a little bit of time to actually look at that in a little more detail.
This is an incredibly popular unit and, of course, they're not only for garage doors. They could be barn doors, they could be any big set of doors that you want to be able to have them in a hold open position. Of course you have to be able to get at the string. The string actually comes quite long. This would then drop down on the door and that allows you then to be able to operate this when this is high up out of the way. You have this drawstring that you can then pull on and that will allow you to then close the door back. Like I said, the stables or something like that.
So there you go guys. That's just one of the products that we have. It comes with its fixings as well. There is a complete fixings kit there as well to be able to bolt it and screw it onto the door around the lintel. But if you need a bit more information or you want a bit more of advice, you can always pop online, use the live chat that we have or simply do it the old-fashioned way - give us a call on the old telephone number. Either way we'd love to hear from you and, more importantly, we'd love to see you as one of our customers.
So for me, Darrel, and the rest of the team, thanks for taking the time to tune in. We'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now.
