Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in have quick look at one of our product review videos. Now we're putting these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, a little bit more information, and a little more detail about the products we have to offer. This particular video is designed to give you a bit more information on a falling butt hinge that we have on our website. This is the actual hinge here.
Now the idea of this particular hinge is if that was actually fitted now to your door, when you open the door the idea is, that the hinge will naturally want to drop as it opens up to 90 degrees. Therefore then, as the door is actually opening the weight of the door will assist the door in its actual opening.
The amount that the door will drop as it opens is about 6 millimetres according to the manufacturer's specification there. I don't know if you can actually get that. I put that there now like that. There would be the door in the closed position. As I open the door, you will be able to see that the back of the hinge there is actually dropping all the way down. When it gets to about 90 degrees, it's dropped approximately about 6 millimetres.
The idea is, simply, as you open the door, the door will drop down. It comes with its fixings as well. It comes with a pack of screws as well for it. It's a grade three or four stainless steel hinge. It's actually designed, if you've got a pair of them, to carry something in the range of 50 kilos as well. It's a standard 4 inch butt hinge there and it actually has the four standard fixings there. Therefore, that's good, strong, fixing. You need to have at least four, maybe five to get good fixing into the door.
Just to give you a little bit more information on this as well I'll give you an idea of the actual width of the leaves themselves. They're 30 millimetres there. This should be 102. Yeah, and it's bang-on there, 102.
So there you go, guys. It just allows you to be able to see it in the flesh. There could be loads of reasons why you would want a falling butt hinge. Obviously, one of them is to allow the door to assist in its opening. Perhaps you've got a bit of a low roof above and by opening the door slightly you may need to clear a bit of a roof by a couple of millimetres, a bit of a ceiling. It has loads of different advantages and so forth.
There you go. That's what the idea of the video is. It's to be able to give you that little bit more of information, a little bit more advice on how it actually works, etc.
Listen, if you need more information on this or any of the products we have to offer, by all means, pop us over an email, use the live chat that we have, or simply do it the old-fashioned way, pick up the phone and give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and more importantly, we'd love to see you as one of our customers.
From me, Darrel, and from all of us at the team, thank for taking the time. Take care.
