This Concealed Soss Hinge 212 is designed for doors with the thickness of 28 - 34mm and will sit flush into an internal door; 2 Soss Hinges will be required - one to sit slightly above the bottom and another for just below the top.
These Soss Hinges are a really clever piece of architecture. They are hidden within the door which offers a far more pleasing final aesthetic than a normal pin hinge. The operation is also smooth and refined.
Whilst these are ideal for thick and sturdy wooden doors, panel doors may not have the required thickness/strength for this Soss Hinge.
4.5mm diameter x 30mm standard fixing screws included.
Available in brass plated steel or nickel plated steel

Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm the head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking the time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. Now we're putting these short, little videos together to be able to give our customers the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer in a little bit more detail and to be able to explain, perhaps, some of the information and the advice on the product that perhaps the image or the description may not necessarily be able to give you, for it to help you ultimately to make a decision as to whether or not this is the product that you are looking for.
Today I want to show a range of SOSS hinges that we have on our website. Now, the whole idea of a SOSS hinge, it's a hinge that's designed to sit flush into a door. This particular range is designed for internal doors, doors that are about 38mm in its width, so to speak. The idea is that you would have two of those, one situated obviously a little bit up from the bottom and one a little down from the top, etc. Of course, the advantage with this particular type of hinge is that it's hidden within the door so it actually looks architecturally a little bit better than, maybe, to have a pin hinge which you would see, an exposed hinge on one side of the door.
The operation of these is very, very nice. I don't know if you want to zoom in there. If I open these up there like that pretending it's a door. As you can see there, the actual way that they open is incredibly smooth and very, very refined. And it will actually go all the way round. So it will come back on itself as you can see there. So there's significant amount of play of these particular hinges to allow you to do exactly what you want to do.
Now to get these actually to fit, there is a degree of mortising required. And, just to give you a quick little idea in regards to some of the measurements, there is a specification drawing on our web page. It will give you a bit more information. And of course, these are available in different finishes as well. But just quickly on the video - you'll be looking there at wanting to drill a 19mm hole down through. You want to use a jig or a router to do that, and the total depth there into the door, very, very quickly there, you're looking at something in the region of about 27mm. So you will need to go into the door at least 27mm, or you'll find with a lot of internal doors, however, they could be Boris [SP] cord or something like that or paper cord. So you need to make sure that you have the meat there to take this type of hinge. So it's well worth you checking that. Solid, wooden doors, no problem, but if you get a panelled door or a veneered door you may need to consider that.
Now it comes as well with standard screws. These are the standard screws and, again, very well, beautifully machined, beautifully engineered screws there and that's how far then the screws will actually sit into projection and that's going in just past 22mm there of thread that you will be screwing in there. So there you go guys. There's not really much that you can say about this but it does allow you the opportunity to be able to see the hinge in its operation, how it actually works, etc., and this might be the product that you want to be considering for your internal doors.
